Filly's Comments

I found Randy on Twitter, and thought he was just this amazing artist! I just knew I had to feature him! His work is just incredible and very unique! Every time he posts a new piece I am just in awe and always left with the feeling of when is he going to post the next one!
Randy's Biography

I started painting when I was around 14 and excelled in the art classes I took. In high school I was enrolled in the AP Art courses my school offered, attending two hours a day for two years (junior and senior years). After high school graduation, I received scholarships to some of the best art schools in the country. But instead of pursuing an art school, I elected to join the Marine Corps. That is just the kind of guy I am.

Randy's Artist Statement

My paintings are where my definitive work is created. I use both oil and acrylic paints for my paintings on stretched canvas.

I work with Indian ink for my drawings which can exist as either monochromatic or brilliant prismatic colors.

Last, but not least, I have been very involved lately with print-making. I create fine art prints using a pen on a touch sensitive computer screen, and the art I create is such that the end result looks unlike what a computer can create, but instead possesses the visual appearance of the texture of thick impasto paintings.

The themes of my artwork are as follows,

    * The daily rigor of the US Marines and military profiles (portraits)
    * Figurative nude woman in reclining poses
    * A symbolic king who interacts with the modern world
    * The involvement with the wireless, unseen world which is omnipresent in our modern lives (mobile phones and computers)

Even though I have been working with a modern digital medium for a large portion of my work lately, I remain a traditional artist in my methodology.
