I Laughed Today

Originally written July 26, 2026

Today’s update.

I got up. I took my meds. I took a shower. And I had lunch with two of my mom’s caregivers.

We sat together and told stories about Mom and some of the silly things she used to do. It felt good to talk about her. To remember her. And even in the middle of all this sadness, to laugh about some of the things that made her her.

I also have to say that I’m really proud of myself for remembering to take my meds.

Tomorrow will be one week since I lost my mom, and in that entire week, I’ve only forgotten them once.

That might seem like such a small accomplishment, but right now it doesn’t feel small to me.

I know my mom wouldn’t want me to forget them.

They keep me alive.

And she would want me to keep living.
