Mount Laundry Has Been Conquered

August 24, 2026

Today’s update.

I have an announcement.

MOUNT LAUNDRY HAS BEEN CONQUERED.

Not tackled. Not reduced. Not moved from one pile to another while pretending that counts.

Washed.

Dried.

AND PUT AWAY.

POW!

Go me!

Yesterday, I said I was going to aim for one load because apparently we’re managing expectations around here now. Instead, I did the whole damn thing. It’s all clean, it’s all dry, and there isn’t a basket of clean clothes sitting somewhere waiting for Future Filly to deal with it.

Honestly, putting it away might be the most impressive part.

Today was actually a pretty productive day all around. I got the basics done, took care of Beaker, and I finally called Mom’s life insurance company and got that process started.

Another thing off the list.

Well, sort of.

Nothing involving an estate is ever actually that simple.

Please, Just Give Me All the Damn Forms

One of the banks contacted me because apparently they need another form notarized.

This is after I specifically asked whether there was anything I needed notarized before I dropped everything off.

Apparently there was.

Naturally.

And they can’t notarize it themselves because that would supposedly be a conflict of interest.

What?

It’s literally verifying my identity, but okay. Whatever. I’m too tired of this shit to argue about it.

So tomorrow I’ll head over to the village and get it notarized. I also need to fax something to the life insurance company, so I’ll take care of that while I’m already out.

I’m just really fucking over this entire process.

I understand why there are procedures when someone dies. I understand why identities have to be verified and why financial institutions need documentation. What I don’t understand is why nobody can apparently give you a complete list of what you need the first time.

Give me the forms.

Give me a checklist.

Tell me what needs a signature.

Tell me what needs to be notarized.

Tell me where to send it.

I will do all of those things.

Please stop sending me on a fucking goose chase.

The good news is that I’m almost finished with the financial side of everything. I can finally see the end of this particular mountain of paperwork.

Unfortunately, I know what’s waiting behind it.

The house.

Ugh.

That’s the big one I really don’t want to deal with.

I don’t think I’m going to sell it. I’m leaning toward fixing it up and renting it out, but I’m not making any decisions yet. That’s something I want to take my time with because once I start dealing with the house, I’m not just dealing with an asset or paperwork anymore.

I’m dealing with their house.

That’s different.

So we’ll see.

Meanwhile, FRDCreations Is Moving

I also managed to get more inventory photographed and uploaded to the shop today.

We’re officially at more than 600 products!

Six. Hundred.

When the hell did that happen?

Seriously, go check out the shop because apparently I’ve built a small department store while I wasn’t paying attention.

And because laundry meant I was already downstairs, I took advantage of being there and made a significant dent in cleaning off my streaming space.

WOOO!

That one makes me particularly happy.

Every time I clear another section downstairs, September and my return to streaming feel a little more realistic. There’s still work to do, but I can actually see the space now. Soon I’ll be able to sit down there, turn on the camera and have a functional area instead of strategically aiming the camera away from whatever pile of chaos is lurking three feet to my left.

Progress!

That’s really what today was.

Progress everywhere.

The laundry is completely done. Mom’s life insurance process has been started. The remaining financial stuff is getting closer to finished. More products are in the shop. My streaming area is becoming usable.

Today was a genuinely productive day.

And I’m proud of myself.

I’m also slightly suspicious.

Because whenever I have one of these highly productive days, there’s always the possibility that my body wakes up tomorrow and says, Oh, you thought you could do things? That’s adorable.

Hopefully I haven’t launched myself directly into a flare.

We’ll see.

For tonight, though, I’m not borrowing tomorrow’s problems.

Today I got shit done.

A lot of shit.

Tomorrow I’ll deal with the notary. I’ll send the insurance paperwork. I’ll keep chipping away at the last little bit of financial stuff, and hopefully very soon I can finally say that part is finished.

Then I’ll stare at the giant metaphorical mountain labeled THE HOUSE and probably pretend I don’t see it for a little while.

That’s Future Filly’s problem.

Tonight’s Filly has clean clothes.

Clean clothes that are actually put away.

POW!

Go me!
