The End of an Era, Kind Of

September 18, 2026

It’s weird how something as simple as changing a contact in your phone can hit you right in the chest.

I got a new phone tonight.

Nothing dramatic there.

But I’ve been using my parents’ old phone line as my business number for FRDCreations. With the new phone, I decided to transfer that number onto my old iPhone because the number had been living on a Samsung and I hate Android with every fiber of my soul.

Sorry Android people.

Actually, no I’m not.

Anyway.

That number had still been saved in my contacts as Home.

And the contact photo was Jack, one of my old dogs who died years ago.

Tonight I finally changed it.

I changed the contact name from Home to FRDCreations.

And I changed the photo from Jack to my logo.

That sounds so small when I type it out.

It wasn’t.

For years, that number meant home.

It was my parents.

It was family.

It was a number I associated with a completely different part of my life.

And tonight, with a few taps on my phone, it became something else.

I didn’t delete it.

I didn’t let it disappear.

I gave it a new purpose.

That number will stay with me forever now.

And somehow that makes me both really emotional and really sad.

Because it does feel like the end of an era.

There was something about seeing Home pop up in my contacts that still connected me to what used to be there.

My parents.

My old life.

Jack’s little face staring back at me.

All of it.

Changing that felt like admitting that “home” doesn’t mean the same thing anymore.

And I fucking hate that.

But at the same time, changing it to FRDCreations felt kind of right.

Because this business is part of what I’m building now.

It’s something I’ve created.

It’s something I’m pouring myself into while I try to figure out who I am after everything that has happened.

So maybe the number isn’t gone.

Maybe it’s just moving forward with me.

It belonged to one chapter of my life, and now it’s becoming part of another.

There’s something bittersweet about that.

Sad as hell.

But also kind of beautiful.

The number that once meant home is now tied to something I built with my own hands.

Something I hope grows.

Something I hope lasts.

Something that still carries a piece of where I came from.

Maybe that’s why it hit me so hard.

It wasn’t just changing a contact.

It was letting go of one version of home and attaching that little piece of it to something new.

The end of an era.

The beginning of something else.

Hopefully something great.

And yes, I am absolutely emotional over a phone number.

Grief is weird like that.

Sometimes it lives in the big things.

Sometimes it lives in a contact name and an old picture of your dog.

Anyway.

Welcome to FRDCreations, old home number.

You’re coming with me.
